Welcome to Oak Class.
The class teacher is Mrs Armstrong. Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Baldwin (Monday to Thursday).
Please see our termly letter: /docs/welcome_to_y6_-_spring.doc
We are learning
In Literacy we will be reading Street Child by Berlie Doherty and this will link to our topic this term, The Victorians.
In Maths we will be following the National Curriculum supported by our new scheme, Maths No Problem. This term there will be a focus on measure, area and perimeter and ratio and proportion.
In Science our topics will be Evolution.
In History our topic is Victorians.
Things to look forward to:
- An educational visit based on our topic – The Victorians
- A day for the children to come in and dress up as Victorian children
Homework should be completed in your child’s red book.
Maths will be sent out weekly on Thursdays and is due in Wednesdays. Maths homework will be marked by the children in class so that feedback is immediate.
The children will be given a new homework menu in the front of their books. These tasks should be completed by the end of term. The tasks will be marked at regular intervals. Spellings are sent out half termly and tests are on Mondays.
P.E. is on Monday and Thursday but it is helpful to have P.E. kits in school all of the time.
Small pencil cases are welcome in class. They need to fit in your child’s tray. Useful equipment to have in class: a glue stick, a black and blue pen, a pencil, an eraser, a sharpener and a whiteboard pen.
To make good progress in reading, children should read for at least 20 minutes daily.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on our class email addresses if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you need to speak to us directly about anything, then after school when you pick your child up is the best time.
Thank you for your continued support.
