Welcome to Sycamore Class
We hope you have had a restful Christmas break and are looking forward to the new year ahead.
We all work really hard is Hazel class and the adults that help us with our learning are Mrs Patel and Mrs Chagtai.
We are learning
In English, we will be writing to entertain with a focus on playscripts during the half term. Our text this term is going to be ‘Suitcase Kid’ by Jaqueline Wilson.
In maths, we will continue to use and apply our understanding of multiplication and division. We will also go on to learn about graphs and fractions.
In science, we are investigating states of matter. We look forward to finding out about differences between solids, liquids and gases; observing that some materials change shape when heated and cooled and measure the temperature at which this happens; Identify the part played by evaporation and condensation in the water cycle and associate the rate of evaporation with temperature.
In our Topic work, we will have a focus on Geography looking at Rivers. We will be looking at the water cycle, rivers around the world and physical geographical features by comparing rivers in two different countries.
We love to see how what we are learning in school is being used out of the classroom. If you notice any of your children’s’ learning is being used out and about we would love to hear about it in their homework books!
Homework and spellings is set for every half term and aimed to be given out at the start of the term. Homework is stuck into the children’s homework book and expected to be completed each week, handed in on Wednesdays. Homework books will be checked and handed back on Fridays.
If there are any questions or queries about the homework or how to support a member of Sycamore class in completing it please contact Mrs Patel on the class email.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on our class email addresses if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you need to speak to us directly about anything, then after school when you pick your child up is the best time.
Thank you for your continued support.
