Welcome to Beech class.
Your teacher is Mrs Jefferies and your teaching assistant is Mrs Chagtai. Ms Jackson will also be in Beech class as a trainee teacher.
We are going to have a brilliant year in Reception.
We are learning
This term we are going to be learning all about ‘Sea Adventures’.
We will be sharing a new story each week. Our focus texts will be ‘Mermaid School, ‘The Night Pirates’, ‘The Pirates Next door’ and more. We will learn how to retell and act out the story. We will also be developing our story language in our own writing too.
We have now learnt all of our sounds and will continue to practise applying these sounds in our reading and writing. We will also continue to learn our ‘words to learn’.
In maths we will be exploring numbers to 10, identifying and creating patterns, recognising shapes and learning their properties. We will be learning about estimation and developing different counting strategies. We will also be learning about different measures, including; length, weight, capacity and time.
We have been using a fantastic new Maths program called Maths No Problem. We believe the children in Reception are really enjoying our exciting new lessons!
The children will continue to have their reading books changed weekly. Please continue to read with them at home regularly and acknowledge this in their reading record.
All children are required to come into school wearing their own clothes for Forest School. They will need to bring in their school uniform in a bag so they can change back into this after their lesson and will bring the Forest School clothes back home with them. Wellies can stay at school. As the weather gets wetter you will also need to provide waterproof clothing for you child.
Please ensure all items of clothing are named
Beech Forest school will be on Thursday morning.
Beech PE is on a Friday, they do not need a PE kit until after the half term. Their kits can be stored in school on their pegs and will be sent home at the end of each term to be washed.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on our class email address if you have any concerns or questions at email@example.com However, if you need to speak to us directly about anything, then after school when you pick up your child is the best time.
Thank you for your support and cooperation,
Mrs Jefferies, Mrs Chagtai and Ms Jackson
