Welcome to Acer Class
Your teachers are Miss Yousif, Mrs Akinwale and Miss Billings.
We are learning
In Maths we will be working on challenging to children to continue working independently. They will be exploring measurement which will be looking at shape, space and time. Factual fluency lessons will be introduced to the children every morning where they will be focusing on number formations and addition / subtraction equations.
In English this term we will be exploring novels by women and particular women in history as we will be introducing the children to the suffragette movement. We will also be exploring issues that are affecting the world that we live in including climate change.
Our topic and cooking lessons will be revisited every term. For the first half of the term we will be doing Topic. Topic this term will be based around the Great Fire of London. Children will be encouraged to think like a historian and will use old artefacts to help piece the story together. During the second part of the half term we will be cooking some very exciting party food that will be inspired by the children’s culture so please submit your recipes to me using the email at the end of this web page.
In Science we will be investigating revisiting the human body and taking a deeper dive into our lifestyles and structure of the anatomy. In the second part of the term we will be focusing on different materials and how best to describe them. We will be using our knowledge to build a space of shade and shelter in our playground.
Reading books must be brought back to school every Monday to be changed. Reading records will stay at school during the week and be sent home on a Wednesday. Please ensure that you read with your children for 20 minutes over the weekend and write inside your child’s reading record.
They will be super excited to show you how hard they have worked on their reading each week so please take some time to listen and praise their improvements. If you’re struggling to think of ways to question and interest your child please let me know as soon as possible.
Homework will be not be sent home for the children to do. They are all working on a bespoke curriculum and will be sent consolidating activities when required.
Forest School is on Friday. Please send your children into school dressed appropriately and ensure that they are sent in with named suitable footwear. This would be wellies ideally, or old trainers if not. Please make sure that your child has plenty of layers and long sleeved clothing to keep them warm outside.
PE lessons will be on Monday and Tuesdays. Please send your child into school dressed for PE making sure that they are wearing a coloured t-shirt related to their house as well as shorts, socks and either plimsolls or trainers. All PE clothing items must be named.
Children are prone to have accidents so please bring in a spare change of clothes for your children to feel as safe and comfortable in school when these moments arise.
It would also be great if your child could bring in a piece of Tupperware on Wednesdays to carry their new cooked meals in each week to help reduce our plastic waste.
Coffee mornings will take place on the 3rd Tuesday of every half term. We will look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 10th May 2022 and Tuesday 21st June 2022 at 8:30am. These morning will be held in the small hall.
If at anytime you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at email@example.com or come and speak to me during pick up at the end of the day
