Welcome to Magnolia Class.
Your teacher will be Miss Crisp
We are learning
In English this term, this term we will learn about acrostic poems through ‘The Lost Words’ before writing our own poems based on natural objects. We will also be comparing traditional tales to books that challenge stereotypes before writing our own stories. We will be practising correct sentence structure and the use of adjectives to add detail to our writing.
In Maths, we will continue to follow our ‘Maths No Problem’ scheme. We begin the term by revising our knowledge fractions and reviewing this unit. We will then move onto counting, ordering and comparing numbers to 100. Later in the term we will be learning about time and money. Throughout these units of work, the children will be developing their knowledge and understanding of numbers and mathematical vocabulary.
In Science, we will be learning about animals. We will learn to identify features of and classify a variety of animals sorting them into fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. We will also learn what pets we could have, how to look after them and what they eat. We will be practising using the scientific skills of identifying, grouping, classifying and analysing.
In Topic, we will be learning about how countries are different. We will begin by learning what a country is before moving on to identifying geographical features of Kenya, Japan and countries within the UK. We will use aerial photographs to recognise landmarks and basic human and physical features.
Continuing from last term we would like you to choose a piece of homework from the grid to do each week and post it on Seesaw for your teacher to respond to. Please make sure it is the child’s own work.
As normal, reading records will be sent home daily and reading books should be read with a child as often as possible. Please make sure you write in the record to communicate how your child has read.
Reading records should be brought to school every day.
PE lessons are on Wednesdays and Thursdays and children should come to school in their uniform with their PE kit in a separate bag. As always, please make sure that everything is named
