Welcome to Maple class.
Miss Bennett and Mrs Golding are excited for a great Summer term!
We are learning
This term, we are learning all about ‘Living on an Island’ and ‘Explorers’ including researching about the plants and animals that live on two contrasting islands.
In English, we will be looking at writing for different purposes. This may include diary entries, instructions, recounts and narratives. We are using a range of books, videos and pictures to inspire our writing. We are also making links between our learning and writing to inform in our science and topic lessons.
In Maths, we will be learning about fractions, time, word problems, shape and revising our number knowledge.
In Science, we are investigating plants and animals. We cannot wait to research things which are living, dead or non-living and we are excited to learn about plants and animals we might find in different countries.
Homework is given out on Fridays and is collected the following Thursday. Each term we will send home a week by week planner for the spellings (tested on Fridays) and for the topic or English work. The maths will be sent home each week to match up with our learning.
This year Maple class have PE on a Tuesday and a Friday. Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit including a top of their house team’s colour and clean socks. These will be sent home each half term to be washed and returned back.
The children’s books are changed every Wednesday afternoon. They need to put their reading book and reading record in the box by the door if they would like to have it changed. Unfortunately if they forget to put their book in the box we may not always be able to change it as we have a very busy timetable.
If you need to speak to us directly about anything, then after school when you pick your child up is the best time. Please don’t hesitate to contact us on our class email addresses if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your continued support.
