Art and Design
Welcome to our Art Room page.
My name is Mrs Holland and I am the Art Teacher at Churchfields Primary School.
Summer 2022
Hello everyone. Welcome to the Summer Term!
The summer term sees an even greater diversity of skills being explored in the art room!
Alongside our class work we have planned visits to galleries and exhibitions which is very exciting and are hoping to develop the courtyard area outside the art room more with the inclusion of artworks inspired by artists Keith Haring.
We are learning
During the summer term, depending on their year group, pupils will be experimenting with different printing techniques, exploring new textile projects or discovering new methods of clay design.
Reception will be using found objects in their printing work, experimenting with design and pattern. They will then be introduced to simple sewing techniques. |
Year 1 will be looking at the amazing animal sculptures by Niki Saint Phalle and creating their own before making textured, collaged self-portraits. |
Year 2 will be learning new drawing techniques and then creating Pop Art style portraits |
Year 3 will be looking at Typography and then making simple moving drawings. |
Year 4 will be having fun with mixed media sculptures and then Modigliani style portraits. |
Year 5 will be exploring sculptural ideas based on existing objects and then looking at architecture. |
Year 6 will be creating still life drawings and looking at set design. |
Acer class will be looking at different ways to create their own self-portraits and exploring art techniques that we can do outside. |
Ash class will be making their 3D nests using a variety of mixed media. They will then go on to produce their own self-portraits. |
Design Technology
Our Design and Technology curriculum is taught through our Art, Computing lessons and by the class teachers.
In Design and Technology pupils, make and evaluate their work, using their technical knowledge. Pupils will experience working with a range of construction materials, mechanism and structures and will be taught how to consider their most suitable application to make products to solve problems, as well as learning to use tools safely and confidently.
