My Book Review by Alina in Reception

Title of the Book Mulan (Chinese traditional tale)
Author Michaela Morgan
What the book is about Mulan is about fighting in war. At first in the story, Mulan works in her house as she does every day. She decides that she should go to war instead of her father. Mulan tells the guard in a deep voice “I am here to join the army as ordered." She uses her spear but she also uses her brain. And then the story ends with Mulan being true and brave. She leaves fighting behind and returns to her family.
What I thought of the book I loved it because I really love dodging and running about and climbing.

Title of the Book The Valley of Lost Secrets
Author Lesley Parr
What the book is about The book is based during the Second World War. It is an exciting fiction story, about a boy and his brother who get evacuated from London to Wales and find out that there is more behind the countryside of Llanbryn (the village they were evacuated to).
What I thought of the book I really enjoyed reading this book, because of all the cliff hangers. My favourite part was when they find out who the bones hidden in the Witch Oak belong to. The Valley of Lost Secrets is a really good book mainly because it is really exciting and it makes you want to read more and more. Anyone should read it, especially if you like stories with suspense, or based during the war

Title of the Book The Broken Leg of Doom
Author

Pamela Butchart

Illustrated by Thomas Flintham

What the book is about I really enjoyed this book. It’s about a girl called Maisie who breaks her leg whilst doing extreme dancing. She has to stay in hospital while she gets better. While she is there, Maisie and her friends meet another patient called Seb. He tricks them into thinking there is a curse in Maisie’s leg cast.
What I thought of the book The book is full of suspense and includes some history about mummies, which we have learned about this term in Year 3. There are very funny parts of the book that made me laugh out loud, and the children get up to lots of mischievous things too! I would recommend this book to children who like reading chapter books, and who like funny books with lots of suspense and great characters.

Title of the Book Sleepovers
Author Jacqueline Wilson
What the book is about This book is about a girl called Daisy who has an older sister who is disabled. All of her friends are called the Alphabet Club (because of their names). They have sleepovers for their birthdays. Daisy is scared that if her friends find out her sister is disabled, they will make fun of her.
What I thought of the book It was really good because it teaches you real life lessons. It sends out a positive message that it doesn’t matter what people think of you. that your family are important to you and regardless of disabilities, everyone should be treated equally. If they don’t respect that, then they’re not true friends. i enjoyed it very much!
