Our Geography curriculum gives children the knowledge to understand their place in the world, through the study of people and their environments. This includes a study of our local areas as well as different cultures and societies across the world, and learning is extended through considering environmental issues. The children spend time learning the continents and oceans, naming the countries that make up the United Kingdom and their capital cities, locating the worlds countries in Europe and North and South America. They learn to identify human and physical characteristics and key topographical features including rivers, hills, mountains and coasts. Our pupils develop their knowledge about globally significant places and learn how to use their increasing geographical skills to analyse data and other sources of information such as maps, aerial photographs, globes etc to deepen their understanding.
