Q1E Learning structure
All learning structures ensure that all children and adults
- Are safe
- Are excellent learners
- Have excellent social an emotional skills
- Achieve and succeed
At Churchfields we follow the Jigsaw PSCHE scheme. The scheme focuses on helping children develop the skills to build and maintain friendships, to recognise and manage their emotions, to know how to keep themselves safe, to understand and manage change in their lives, including as their bodies change and for Year 6 children, the change as they transfer to secondary school.
Jigsaw is a unique, spiral, progressive and effective scheme of work, aiming to prepare children for life, helping them really know and value who they truly are and understand how they relate to other people in this ever changing world.
Jigsaw is a detailed and comprehensive scheme of learning for ages 3-11/12. It is extremely well structured, with progressive lesson plans, as well as teaching resources. It is a whole-school programme that, through PSHE and relationship-building, changes culture and improves both learning and life-chances.
Jigsaw PSHEC connects the pieces Personal, Social and Health Education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development. Our lessons are closely linked with Science, R.E, PE, Computing and Forest School.
What is the structure of teaching and learning?
There are 6 Puzzle Pieces (lessons) in each of the units of work, they are taught in this order throughout the year. They are tailored for each year group from Early Years to Year 6.
